Lerici

with La Spezia and Portovenere is one of the three municipalities that overlook the Gulf of Poets. For many years, Lerici has hosted Lord Byron, Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley. It is one of the most famous seaside villages of Liguria and northern Italy in general, is in fact a destination for many tourists throughout the year. It has a very ancient history, the first traces of the village of Lerici date back to the Etruscan era, when in all likelihood a first village of theirs was set up around the VII century BC, after the foundation of the future Roman city of Luni. Over time the particular geographical position made of Lerici a natural port, first for the ancient Ligurians, then for the Romans. The town is dominated by the Castle. Built starting from 1152 it underwent numerous transformations by the maritime republics of Genoa and Pisa, which contended their property because of its strategic position. Only in 1555 the castle began to take on its present appearance, when, at the behest of the San Giorgio Service, the works were completed and, to seal the event, a tombstone was still hung on the front door. The castle is currently home to the geopaleontological museum of Lerici.

Tellaro is a small seaside village, perched on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of La Spezia. It is part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy. A destination for many Italian and foreign artists, Mario Soldati has found a home in the long years of his old age. Tellaro is one of the seaside villages that each year participate in the Palio del Golfo (the first dome is held on Sunday, in August). The only driveway of communication, which leads from Lerici to the village of Tellaro, is a road that slopes to the sea, passing through Maralunga and Fiascherino. The village is reachable by some pedestrian paths that descend from the villages above towards the sea, even if with some difficulty, given the rugged and impervious nature of the terraces degrading the sea
